@Soy_Magnus you're gonna destroy the first leaderboard -- the second is more difficult (esp without paid duo).

Duolingo is much cheaper than the price of language lessons per hour at minimum wage when you get unlimited use per year
You can use it for free also but it is not a good use of time because you have to earn hearts every time you make a mistake and Duolingo does not understand that there is no definite or indefinite article in modern Korean leading to a lot of mistakes that are not really mistakes
Unlike a tutor or class you can practice any time you want
@shortstories @jeffcliff it glitched on me any time it asks me to say something into the mic and auto rejects it so I fail its a hardware issue
@Soy_Magnus @shortstories i had that problem for awhile too, for some reason using firefox it doesn't even bother to ask...i think you can usually 'skip' those ones.
@jeffcliff @shortstories I do but its a feature I like and im disappointed ot doesnt function its also whats driven down my % lol I didnt realize I could click the skip initially it took 2 fails to realize it on the third

@shortstories @jeffcliff thats reasonable I hadn't thought of that. I have refused to use finger biometrics to unlock phones accept for a very brief moment when it first came out because im not willingly giving up my finger prints to corporations and ive felt that before face scanning was a thing so ive never used that feature I even quit from safeway because for a very brief time when they tried to bring back tighter covid restrictions they installed a tablet that allegedly took your temperature and took a picture you and printed a sticker with your face on it. It didnt do that quite obliviously to anyone looking at it ot didnt have a heat scanner it was just a fuccin tablet lol. I hate biometrics theft and go to great lengths to avoid it. Thate safeway job I was making 20.41 an hour it was money

Perhaps so, if you're purely looking at dollar value. I can't dispute that. But it's not a good use of money when you could be using that money to pay a human being to speak french with, imho. Even a non-professional tutor - just someone who speaks both english and french, which admittedly that's starting to get into skilled labour.

No, you don't. You just get 5 free hearts a day -- which isn't enough to get very far very fast, but over a long period of time will get a lot further than sitting on the couch, manger les bonbons, and not learning french.
