So what's the mechanism stopping UBI from causing an immediate cost of living adjustment for utilities, rent, housing prices, food, goods?

@GelatinousRube UBI would cause the prices of all of those and more to go up almost immediately. Prices are dictated by suply and demand, increasing the ammount of money ppl have would invrease demand but supply would stay the same, thus increasong the price. If your goal is to make thins more affordable then you need to make thing more abundant not give lousers free money.
