@Tfmonkey Companies are not solely for profit they are for ego. That's why they are against remote work paying project based pay etc. Eventhough they cut the fat etc. Firms enjoy making people miserable and following useless rules. Read the book Bullshit jobs. Please consider information outside of Austrian economics
@amerika @Tfmonkey Again if you read something outside of Austrian Economics you would understand.
You feel good about yourself knowing you can boss others around. In Bullshit Jobs they state Private colleges have larger administrations than public ones. This is because wealthy people want to feel better knowing there are minions below them.
Please read something else. I had the confirmation bias of Austrian Economics also until I found issues Sowell can't answer like this one...
@amerika @Tfmonkey If we were purely market Austrian thinkers then a project based business would out compete the boomer business. As the remote/project business would deliver the same widget cheaper and probably faster than the hierarchical Boomer Business. But we don't see this in real life so there are non financial variables the Austrian economist can't see... The Book Bullshit Jobs helps explain some of this...
@amerika @Tfmonkey The gig Economy is basically the project model of work that tfm was talking about. But we still have large bloated companies.
Therefore, we need a new model to explain this phenomenon. In Bullshit Jobs the author states that 50% of jobs are BS and fall into 5 types flunkies, goons, duct tapers, box tickers, and taskmasters. It is good to READ something else outside of Austrian theory
what you say is true of individuals working in them
they are advancing their "careers"
