after some thought i would most likely buy a good mouse and use it's hw with custom shell. the programming and sourcing hw is just waste of time. although the hw might be "fixed" in ways making custom shell problematic so it would have to be trial and error to find one that would be usable for the custom shell and buttons arrangement.
