I became aware upon rereading that this statement appears to conflict with a later one I made, suggesting this is more of a dialectical collective-emergence over time, than individual agency - I think both probably happened, but that the emergent one was arguably the more significant.
It’s sort of an ancillary sidebar; perhaps interesting, but not the main point. In any case I foresee the possibility the more detail-oriented reader might stumble upon it.
