I've been hearing for years the economy is about to collapse yet it has yet to happen. It may well at some point but I'm skeptical it will happen on the schedule of the alarmists as they have consistently been wrong. After all their business model is selling doomerism.

What if the economy has already been collapsing very slowly over multiple decades

That is why the price of housing relative to medium income keeps on going up

And what if when the stock matket price goes up that is the real crash not when the price goes down because a rise in price is bad for new investors and a sign that the company is doing poorly if the price per earning ratio goes up along with it

@shortstories I'd call that decay not collapse but yes it's definately not getting better even by the most charitable interpretation.

If there is 99% decay over a hundred years would that count as collapse at some point or does it only count as collapse if the decay per time exceeds a certain quantity and the total decay also exceeds a certain percent of the original?
