This ruling is the fullest the judge could do. Sentencing the parents for the crimes of the children opens up future prosecutions of parents. There is a gun control activism reward and monetary reward for courts prosecuting more people. That cannot be ignored. Current day courts are not impartial, they have interests, too, that does not make them unbiased.
