I do live in an area where it is much easier to tell people at a glance and I value that. Knowing who is likely to help me vs harm me is critical when you're 20 miles from the nearest town. Out where I'm at we've got more natural problems than societal problems. The few societal problems we have are usually 'resolved' internally.

I've lived in both and prefer the simplicity of the countryside. Raise livestock. Grow food. Shoot coyotes. Grow weed. Shoot pigs. Dodge tornadoes. Simple as.
