I have finally found a way to get my editing software to export in a 9:16 format. By "found a way" I mean rolled back to a 2023 version because that version allowed for vertical export in the 'freeware' edition. Later builds removed that ability and put it behind the paywall.
I really rather dislike companies removing features from free editions of their software only to put them behind a paywall in later versions. If the new version of the software is so much better and has so many more features, they should stand on their own, not need older features restricted from use.
Why does this matter?
Vertical format is pushed harder online these days because of the ubiquity of phone browsing.
Will I use this ability?
Probably not because all vertical format videos on all platforms seem to be limited to under 60 seconds and I do not understand the concept of "brevity".
At least I learned something today, I suppose.
Although, looking at I Can't Even News, that does loan itself rather well to short form content. The format will need a little tweaking to ensure its satirical nature is made very clear in an inobtrusive way. Also changing all the assets to a new format and resolution.
I may have to play around with this later in the week.
