A tiny bit of clean up on this story. This was not THE Miss Alabama pageant, as in this person will not be representing Alabama in THE Miss America pageant. This Alabama pageant was put on by National American Miss, a lower level organization with no direct ties to Miss America. I do not disagree with the criticism on this matter in any way, just clarifying the situation.
Also, a biological male won the Miss Maryland USA crown, not Miss Maryland.
