The McDonalds stunt worked because it was sincere. Trump loves McDonalds. He's been associated with the brand for years, even appearing with the Grimace in a commercial. He's happy to be there and it shows.

@judgedread @Scubbie several people have solved the problems with those soft serve machines, and the company takes them to court, with the full backing of McDonalds, to make sure they can't be fixed... If i had any faith that any of this system was rooted in decent people trying to do the right thing, i would be appalled that this behavior is even remotely legal, but, i don't, so i expect it.
@HonkHonkBoom The whole thing originates with the growing incompetence of the workforce. McDonalds is afraid that hacked machines won't be cleaned properly, leading to food poisoning and more bad press.

Solution: Either force the ice cream machine company to remove the temp bricking 'feature' or find a new vendor.
