Don't think I have seen Tenet,so not sure,but my understanding is Time travel technology was not invented so much as it was the knowledge given to be harnessed from immortals to mortals so they could do the bidding of the Immortals kinda like how knowledge to control fire or knowledge of math was given to man,for Immortals wormhole travel via "magic" is possible to access without machinery,space time gravity is a natural occurrence a prison on this planet for the immortals stuck with us
