@shortstories @SilentSeeker Drug rehab programs aren't designed to work. They're designed to employ parasitical people, many of whom are "recovering" addicts themselves, that just tell addicts to go to 12 Step meetings when they're out, or a recovery house owned by an addict grifter who's ripping them off for rent and likewise just make them go to 12 Step meetings where they're told to pray for a life preserver from God, which they finally get when they relapse and die.

@bigmattoidchimpin @shortstories Yes, it's true, that these programs usually employ people who had that specific problem. But they're not employing people who are still struggling with it. The whole point is to give the participants a Role Model who made it out, instead of just giving them a preacher. Addictions severally damage self esteem and restoring that is far more difficult, than curing the addiction itself. No system is perfect. Some might be able to lie about it, but not all of them.
