The V1 Starship boosters had a short header tank at the aft LOX bulkhead, requiring the V1 booster to jettison the hot staging section. The new V3 booster (pictured) has a Falcon 9 sized header tank occupying nearly the entire length of the main LOX tank. This allows better flip maneuvers and eliminates the need to jettison the hot staging section.
