@judgedread I sas in a busy pub a while back. Two bartenders continuously taking food and booze orders, serving orders at the sit down bar, coordinating with the waitresses. And the waitresses rushing back and forth with orders, seating people, dealing with clean up plus all the other little related issues that go with any job.

And I thought about the videos from the new Chinese robot companies.

All those employees are going to be replaced if possible by their employer. There will be push back but he will do the numbers and it will be impossible to stay in business if he doesn't. Because his competitors will and reap the savings.

Disney has reduced free range character interactions to the bare minimum to avoid brand damage (every minute someone wanders around as Goofy is another minute for his wardrobe to malfunction or the cast member to trip and scream, 'motherfucker!' or accidentally kick a baby), save money (each walkaround costume requires at least one handler to deal with shit you can't see while wearing that giant plastic head) and avoid congestion due to mobbing of the character.
