@ACL9000 I can't tell if you're trolling or just not familiar with the weapon type - a hypersonic missile striking anywhere within several ship-lengths of the target will generate a cavitation bubble that will a) snap the in half in it's own weight and b) generate a deep vaporized depression into which the broken ship will fall. It will look like the ocean just swallowed it up. A flash of light, bubbles, and the ship is gone. I'm not sure what you're envisioning, but kinetic kill vehicles are not cruise missiles or sea skimmers. Warheads and payloads are almost irrelevant to lethality. @judgedread is correct; these are sitting ducks operating completely at the good will of our enemies.

@CommanderCulture You need some eye of god interception system because by the time the ship can aim its electric gatling guns the die is cast.

Basically you gotta blast it a few miles out from the target.
