It is not established that Trump is being blackmailed. It may just be that Netanyahu, by putting Israel in harm's way by being willing to start open war with Iran, has forced Trump's hand. This trick would have worked on Reagan, Clinton, Bush II and Obama. It might have worked on Bush I, that's less clear because Bush I was denied a second term because he defied Israel on a minor issue.

The number of aircraft involved in the 'rescue mission' also indicate that there was more to it than just grabbing a pilot, which could have been managed with a single helicopter.

It's pretty obvious they were attempting to raid the nuclear storage facility and got ambushed and driven out before they could even begin.
