Videogames were the key to making computers cool. Mainframe computers were the opposite of cool, requiring running the gauntlet of corporate, government or educational bureaucracy to access (or hacking, but that was too obscure in the early seventies to move the cultural needle).

Videogames not only made a lot of nerds rich, for a few years everyone loved them.

I always despised the NJP and all its supporters on fedi, when they were all whiteknighting for women a few years ago on fedi. Most of my enemies on fedi are all NJP members and those who supported the NJP a few years ago.

The JWST is now looking at each of the Earth-sized Trappist planets to gain information on their atmospheres and surfaces.

The closest planets TRAPPIST-1b and 1c are confirmed to have no atmospheres. They're basically Earth-sized versions of Mercury.

TRAPPIST-1d was no detected atmosphere. There's a (very small) chance of high altitude clouds blocking sunlight transit.

NASA's 2001 Mars Odyssey orbiter captured this incredible image of the giant shield volcano Arsia Mons, poking through the cloud tops at Martian dawn. Arsia and the other megavolcanoes on Mars are so tall they're often surrounded by water ice clouds in the early morning. Odyssey is normally staring straight down, so to capture this unique angle, it had to rotate 90 degrees while in orbit so that it could capture a side perspective view of the volcano.
