Ship 31
Ask any career woman:

Are you over 35? How many kids do you have?

Even if it doesn't shut them up it will ruin their day.

View of Starship landing burn and splashdown on Flight 10, made possible by SpaceX’s recovery team. Starship made it through reentry with intentionally missing tiles, completed maneuvers to intentionally stress its flaps, had visible damage to its aft skirt and flaps, and still executed a flip and landing burn that placed it approximately 3 meters from its targeted splashdown point

@wizardmanperson Yes. They argue that we were better off in medieval times. Which for most people means being a serf.

@judgedread A core defect of the religious type is the wanting to go back in time when time is constantly moving forward. It's like driving your car but staring in the rearview mirror. People back then died in their 40s and many of their children died before their 9th birthdays and their medicine and sanitation were shit and their day to day levels of general pain and discomfort were completely unbearable by 21st century standards but boy oh boy they went to church every Sunday!

No going back.

@nomebullyyou We have modern problems which include the threat of being wiped out by the jews, but we can solve that one. We know how.

Compared to serfdom and the ever present threat of plagues, famine and death from the most trivial scratch becoming septic with no antibiotics modern problems are life in easy mode.
You're never going to convince me I would have been better off being born a serf.

Serfdom is worse than being taxed. You can't quit your 'job.'

You can't even move.

Also your kids get to be slaves too.

“FLDS still has plenty of ruthless killers, and I include them in the Mormon category.”

An offshoot sect derived from one of the Mormon sects, has an above-zero chance of being a future religion of techpriests and techknights. Imagine a former drone tech using a derivative of Mormonism, to become a cult leader of a community of settlers on Mars.

@DMA FLDS still has plenty of ruthless killers, and I include them in the Mormon category.
@ins0mniak Nothing epitomizes the vileness of Mormonism as well as Mitt Romney. A despicable corporate raider and wrecker, traitor, and cuck who threw the 2012 election.
Oh, and David Brin is right about one thing: The absolute priority of everyone will be restoring technological society as it will be missed.
Most likely those few theocratic fiefdoms will be Mormon.
In any event, we're not going back to medieval times. In the event of a breakdown we will have some new low technology social structure that incorporates modern philosophical ideas - anti-Christian, atheistic, agnostic, new age, the usual Oprah mishmash of confused American nonsense - and the contingent facts of history. Some warlords will be little more than gangsters, others cult leaders, most military veterans with practical concerns paramount.
Owning a farm and working a farm are not the same thing.

Owners can be quite powerful. Serfs, not so much. In fact their skeletal remains show they were malnourished and small in stature.
People must really be hurting if they look back on medieval times with longing.
