Apollo LEM ascent stage without the thermal outer skin. Note the spherical propellant tank, one on each side of the vehicle. Getting from Lunar surface to Low Lunar Orbit is vastly easier, than getting from Earth surface to Low Earth Orbit (LEO). So those small propellant tanks are enough to achieve orbit from the Moon's surface.
