@judgedread I don't think it's possible to make a really good propaganda story, at least not one that is good as a story. I think you've gotta engage. This is why Verhoeven is so fascinating to me, like, he kept *trying* to make propaganda but he was too honest and he cared too much about his characters and he ended up just making art repeatedly. Finally, he gets to Starship Troopers and he's like "I'M NOT EVEN GOING TO READ THE BOOK" and he *still* made a movie that was great and ended up conveying almost the opposite of his intended message.
