Word among the stock traders I know is that there are iceberg orders executing consistently 15-45 min before these things become known to the press. The consensus is that he is milking the trading algorithms, who take him at his word credulously. The volume and gain is large enough for whoever is doing this, if they are a single party or co-ordinated group of parties, to corner a significant segment of several large markets.
