@Tfmonkey @5th_level_druid @ArdainianRight I don’t disagree with you, but you’re still closing off opportunities from yourself. Swearing off a family will leave you without the formative experiences that would have created for you, and that’s an acceptable condition for your risk calculation.
Without people depending on you for survival and guidance you will naturally lead a you-centered, selfish life because you won’t be strong-armed into making the tough choices that a father and husband would. In return, you’ll get the fun, the freedom, and the increased living standards that I will not.
That’s not a choice I’m willing to make, despite the risk, despite the numbers, despite all the reasons in the world to be an eternal bachelor. I’m willing to thread the needle for what I’ll get out of it.
