it's true that bank tellers didn't "lose their jobs" to ATMs in absolute numbers in the US, but tellers per X population did decrease over time. population increased by ~50% since 1980 and number of tellers employed increased by about 20%

assuming the number of tellers per X population would've otherwise remained constant, ATMs came at the cost of ~150,000 teller jobs in the US

perhaps supergenius yann lecun, godfather of AI, has the same trouble with ratios and rates as the black community

@deprecated_ii teller jobs were replaced by ATMs, and the former tellers were retrained as customer service and loan officers. The number of bank branches increased and more (better paying) jobs were created than were replaced by automation. Many of the former tellers becoming managers of the new branches based on their prior experience.
