PLEASE do not leave out the underscore (or the exclamation point, but really the underscore) in Pop!_OS.

@atoponce I like Pop!_OS and respect the work that's gone into it, but trying to get people to adhere to branding like that is an uphill battle. Perhaps Quixotic, even.

Something as simple as "Red Hat" gets turned into Redhat and RedHat even in publications that in theory should be doing better. To say nothing of social media...

I have spent more time than I care to think about on this issue as a writer, editor, contributor, etc. Projects could save a lot of grief with more standard naming.

@jzb

- Popos means ass in Greek.
- Popos means asses in German
- Popó means shit in Spanish.
- Popo means naked, nude in Thai slang.
- Popo means butt in Turkish.

@atoponce I'm not saying it's ideal to spell it any of those ways.

What I am saying is including _ in a name is an uphill battle -- *especially* since so many people are typing their thoughts on phones where reaching for "_" is a pain in the posterior.

it might be a good idea for the Pop!_OS project / System76 to consider a rebrand of some sort that doesn't require people behaving unlike people usually behave. I'm willing to make the effort, but retraining the whole internet is hard...

@jzb It's also worth noting that Red Hat muddied the waters by using both "RedHat", "redhat", and "Red Hat" in their marketing for decades. It's not the community's fault that they're confused. 😃

Nope, not complying.

Spelling out Pop!_OS is a pain in the popos.
