But make no mistake, no government, especially this government, should have the power to decide who lives and who dies.

It's the natural progression of all tyrannical governments. They never go down without a fight.
@Zeb Problem is I see no fighters, only power hungry losers. Most seem to be fine with tyranny if they think they benefit, or even simply if they believe their lives won't be too negatively impacted.
And so the next transition will give birth to a much worse dystopia.
At this point, part of me hopes the rabbis are right and we have a nuclear war where 2/3 of the world dies instantly and the last third is then further reduced. Seems it might be the least pathetic way for humanity to go out.
