@spectre nothing against EVs actually, but solving the power grid is the final boss.

@spectre Mercedes had an electric 190 in the late 80s and Opel had the electric GT all the way back in 1971. If they were a viable alternative, the free market would've already figured them out.

@spectre Electric cars are too heavy, range highly reduced depending with outside temperature and amenity usage, replacing batteries costs more than what the car will be worth, plus they catch fire if you crash them.
EVs have been around for 150 years. The only reason they're a thing now is because they're being forced on to the market.

@spectre not just the new one, but the original Top Gun as well. Of course it was implied the enemy was soviet Russia, but it was never outright stated. In the new one, the enemy does have Russian Su-57s, but they also still have functional F14s and the only country currently matching that is Iran and the enemy is just identified as a "rogue nation".

@spectre this is why Top Gun is great. There is no enemy. There is no us vs them

@spectre You can blame euro NCAP and pedestrian safety features for that

@spectre it will be survival of the fittest then

@spectre car headlights also used to have replacement parts. If you broke the glass, you just bought a new glass. Nowadays if you have a small fender bender, it's 1000 dollars for a brand new LED light assembly.

@spectre after the collapse all that will end

@spectre I know many stupid shit caused germany to self isolate after the first world war. Like german shepherd dogs being called "alsatians" outside germany, or the fact that the 3 largest ocean liners in the world (Imperator, Bismarck and Vaterland) were awarded to the allies as reparations. Those 3 ships alone would've helped german economy greatly.

@spectre I knew about Rubin. I just can't take gay guys seriously.

@spectre I'm not even a nazi, but I can see Hitler had a point
