Everyone laughed in 1984 because "1984" didn't happen, but who's laughing now?
Americans are obviously whistling down to the concentration camps.
Are you going to do nothing?
Are you going to say nothing?
WTF?
I think a big part of it is that Orwell's vision isn't really the way it's happening. Huxley's "Brave New World" is closer to the way things are actually panning out, and not near as many people are familiar with that.
