Linguist? Absolutely. Safir is a propagandist for 'cosmic hipster' proglibs last I knew.. in the late 1970s @monarchist If I wanted a linguist I'd read chomsky, thanks @h4890 @Palky55 @freepatriot
@freepatriot I can hear that tone of voice, and I've never even seen that movie.
@freepatriot Not the AI image... Or the negative aspects of "mainstream" influencers.
@monarchist @Palky55 @heretical_i @freepatriot
Amen!
Note that modern socialism loves to weaponize language and villify people who use the wrong words.
In europe the left are introducing neutral gender words to mask the truth that only male and female exists.
Negro, just saying the word, can get you fines and prison.
Lately any criticism of islam can land you in prison too.
I'm just waiting for the clash between the
@monarchist @Palky55 @heretical_i @freepatriot leftist gender deniers and the moslem immigrants. That will surely be a fireworks show to remember!
If the politicians control your language, they control you and your thoughts. This is important to remember.
@h4890 @Palky55 @heretical_i @freepatriot
And that's Sapir-Whorf in a nutshell.
Our real problem is not politicians, but the herd.
The herd likes easy answers.
Those are always lies!
@h4890 @Palky55 @heretical_i @freepatriot
Lots of words have been ruined by democracy.
The reason I emphasize hard realism: look at what actual changes are made to physical reality, not what we can sell to people politically or is likely to happen.
Aim for a real goal, not a compromise, in other words.
Another diversity conflict.
@monarchist @Palky55 @heretical_i @freepatriot
Ahh... that is due to my lack of english skills. I never associated the word pragmatism with compromise. Compromise in todays politics is the little death that leads to hell. This we can easily see by looking at how europe and especially sweden "compromise" around immigration policies.
@h4890 @Palky55 @heretical_i @freepatriot
We agree, but that is consequentialism, and only of the realist variety (there is a social variety as well that came _after_ the original, of course).
Generally in the vernacular "pragmatism" means compromise.
