You know that you live in Hell when your phone is wiretapped by the NSA, you get tracked by license plate readers, you must use your fingerprints to clock in at work, everyone is fat and has tattoos, the prices are expensive due to government debt and tariffs, you can't even get a straw at Burger King because of government straw bans, you need a bio-metric eye scan to get into your apartment, and then get told by some punk that 1990 must have been a nightmare.

Augusto Pinochet came in as a Chilean dictator and took the country from a depressed, Cuba like, country to an economically thriving country by expelling the Communists (throwing many from in-flight helicopters). The life of the Chilean people went from destitute and hopeless to prosperous and hopeful. He also succumb to the temptation of corruption and personally enriched himself and friends as well. It is inevitable and a price I would gladly pay for the at large positive social and economic outcomes.
