I met someone in Laos who had overstayed their visa by a whole month and he had no problem just paying the overstay when he left. At $300 USD for the 30 days, it wasn't cheap.
I've been in Honduras for 10 months. Drove through many police checkpoints. Not once have they ever checked the stamps on my passport or cared how long I've been here.

@freepatriot The electrical grid doesn't work like that. Power generation trying to match the demand at every moment. The price is based on the fuel cost. More generation just increase stability, but likely increase the price, because you'll need to operate more plants.
