Notice Theil just moved his frightened ass to Argentina.

@freepatriot I plan to move there too. There are some affairs here that will take about a year to put in order, but otherwise, there is no reason for me to remain in the United States.

@Harald what are the advantages of Argentina?

We are looking at Costa Rica

@freepatriot

@PeaceandProsperity @Harald @freepatriot One disadvantage is the political instability of south america. If the kirchners come back, its right back to socialism with high taxes and currency controls.

@h4890 @PeaceandProsperity @freepatriot In my special case, my money is already made, so there is no income to tax. In a general case, that is fine also because of the optionality provided by the passport: the naturalization process only obligates one to remain in Argentina for the majority of two calendar years (though my lawyer has advised three so I can also make a bid for permanent residency).

@Harald @PeaceandProsperity @freepatriot Ahh... that makes sense. Then you could just leave your money, in USD, on a bank outside the country, and no matter what they do, you should be alright.

A very interesting perspective!

I'm in the middle of life, so naturally I think of my money as something that will grow over time, and how to minimize the taxation of the growth.
