@freedomofpress I get the feeling that this does not take into account self-censoring of the press. In sweden, the mainstream basically are in bed with the politicians, since they get a lot of money through government support. That means that questions and ideologies outside of mainstream, western european socialism gets little to no treatment by the press.
Sure, nominally, the press is free in sweden, but due to their dependence on the government,

Friends & Followers, I'm back from my week off (having avoided the news completely since last Sunday) and normal commentary & posts will re-commence tomorrow morning.
Thanks to everyone who sent me supportive messages after the post about my respite time off, I really appreciated your good wishes.
My batteries are recharged (appropriately enough given some of the recent discussion in the timeline) & I feel refreshed.

All 3 of my aunts were married off before they turned 15. Hundreds of thousands of little girls are married off legally and systematically in Muslim countries. My prediction is that the EU will abolish the veto of members, another guess is that they will change how votes are counted to penalize nationalist parties. A third change is a split, whereby a "deeper" EU is created, and funds and "benefits" to the outer EU will gradually be restricted in the hope that they will join the inner EU where they give away their national sovereignty.
Let's see if 10 years time if I am correct!
@ThatCrazyDude As long as individual countries have veto power in important questions, nothing will happen, since the EU cannot enforce anything. The countries will just refuse, and block important questions, and that is that. Just look at Hungary, they happily spied on behalf of russia, and the worst that happen is that they did not get some EU funds.

@Incal Without watching, my guess would be that the EU will make changes in order to secure a socialist majority in the parliament, and to minimize the influence of nationalist and libertarian parties fighting the EU.

As a technologist, I would never dream of investing in technology. It seems like the rock solid technology I like, always loses out to marketing driven technology companies.
Only open source seems to have some staying power.

This graph shows one of the many reasons the good old days were not so good. Even as late as 1870, women were losing 2 out of 5 of their children.
@paulg Another classic is the "back to nature" people talking about how hunter gatherers of old, only had to work 2 hours per day. What they never talk about is that if the hunt was not successful you starved to death, and of course, how many infants died in child birth.
Technology and science works, and we should be thankful for it.

Wisconsin has a ton of alien and UFO sightings. POSSIBLY the U.P. of Michigan has more, though that's debatable, but we're the very least in second place!
The Pleiadians are one of many different alien species that people (including Wisconsinites) have reported encountering. They are compared to Scandinavians in appearance, as they are tall, blond, and blue eyed, but are notably taller than even your average Scandinavian, and are far more beautiful.

Wisconsin has three different towns which all claim to be the "UFO Capital of the World", and one of these towns, Dundee, has a large amount of reported Pleiadian encounters.
And it's from this that we learn the most important detail of the Pleiadians (at least, the most important detail if you're a Wisconsinite): The Pleiadians are avid Packers fans, who regularly travel to Wisconsin to attend Packers games, disguised as regular humans.
