All of a sudden, the UK government blocking American commentators is a Bad Thing

Hasan Piker and Cenk Uygur were both due to speak at the SXSW London festival and an event in Oxford

The Home Office said their presence would not be conducive to the public good

When it was right-wingers getting banned, it was all AOK

please refrain from acknowledging the existence of pride month when you could be positive instead

@gav WTF? Has it expanded to a month now? That's insane! I think a ms or two should be enough, maybe we could move to the pride nanosecond even.

@Val_Dyz Excellent! Would be great if the EU could seize all the pirate ships of russia, scrap them, and then sell the metal somewhere.

@ChrisMayLA6 Ahhh... ok, then I understand. That makes much more sense.

On mastodon, there's an increasing trend, dividing the fediverse into two. Uncensored instances are fediblocked by the mainstream ones.

So if you care about your audience, I can definitely see why it would make sense to move to a bigger one.

@Ujub I'm just waiting for it to reach europe, thanks to our profitable immigration! Then it will be interesting to see what happens...

@freepatriot In the 50s they were probably treated and cured.

@neumaier They can just bring in more capital from inestors! 😎

@ChrisMayLA6 Why don't you just block them or ignore them? Bots are everywhere.

@freepatriot Yes... one for sure cannot say that he managed to change a lot.

One wonders if Snowden regrets throwing away his life to warn ungrateful Americans about unconstitutional NSA wire-tapping.

Ahh... the first tick of the season. I would not be sad if little f*ckers would just die.

@Sgtron @matthew Then you won't learn as much. This is scientifically proven!

@matthew And best of all, it will probably run without modifications for 20 years!

Last evening, I spent quite a bit of time reading in "gemini space" using the La Grange application.

I am pleasantly surprised by how much there is to read there. People are still posting regularly, though the peak publishing seems to be around 2022 - 2024 (just my observation, not measured).

I do want to emphasis that I was *reading* and not just browsing. There's a very different feel to reading text over the Gemini protocol compared to browsing on the web, Fediverse included.

There's a lot less time spent scrolling and it feels more like *exploring*.

I like it, but is that just my tendency to move toward things that are lesser known and lesser used? "The path less traveled" does not always give the results that we are looking for.

I found reading on Gemini to be enjoyable. I'm not tied to that protocol as the solution to the current problems of the internet, as the older Gopher protocol is worth exploring, too. And maybe something a bit different will emerge, but if you are unfamiliar with Gemini... it is worth checking out.

@lain the EU:s policy is always destructive. It is a kingdom of incompetence!
