EU's age verification app not only got hacked in two minutes but it breaks EU's GDPR act. The app does not let you to remove your digital identity after you've uploaded it. Once again proof that the EU bureucrats are not needed for anything, they'll keep oppressing the european people with authoritarian laws and regulations.

⚠️ DHS is now funding AI “smart glasses” that record, show a data display, and scan faces/gait to match biometric database 'watchlists' of “illegal immigrants” on the street in real time.

First "immigrants," than "protesters", than you!
Welcome to the future we've warned about.

+++ Under the guise of child protection: EU plans digital identity enforcement +++

The European Commission has introduced an age verification app, supposedly to protect children online. However, criticism is mounting: this creates the technical foundation for far-reaching digital identity checks – well beyond its original purpose. Under the pretext of child protection, a system risks emerging that effectively forces users to disclose their identity in order to access online services.

Experience shows that what starts as “voluntary” quickly becomes the norm. Protecting children is fundamental, but must not be used as a pretext to undermine anonymous internet use. Clear limits are needed: no indirect real-name requirements, no gradual expansion of identification obligations, and no centralization of powers at the EU level. A free internet requires data protection, proportionality, and real choice – not infrastructure for control.

As an former Ubuntu fan boy, for well over a decade, I second the recommendation of MXlinux over Ubuntu.

Lighter weight and Debian base is great. It is also friendly to Linux newbies with helpful tools, community and documentation.

I use Devuan on many of my computers, which is also based on Debian.

I messed up

That LineageOS Samsung S20FE I got running was intended for one of the kids, as their first phone.

Now I know that Samsung has their own IMS that isn't compatible with AOSP and thus you cannot do voice calls in countries where VoLTE is the only option available.

Like Sweden.

Sure, this information is "known" if you're into degoogled Android phones - but I wasn't. The only way to get voice working on this hardware is to restore it back to Samsung's - no longer security updated - Android.

ffs
