got told that wanting my kids to run my hypothetical business and securing them high paying jobs in it was "unethical" and "nepotisitc"
@Tactical Have a greentext out there where a kid's dad didn't recommend him to work at lockheed. The guy worked up from a janitor as a kid. The company paid all his certs and schooling as he climbed up, now that he's applying the dad said "no, I'm not giving you a shortcut, that makes me look bad, you need to make your own way in life."
@WashedOutGundamPilot @Tactical >you need to make your own way in life
This is why Jews and Indians run everything, unironically. Idk whats wrong with the boomers that they think its bad to help their own kids.
>"You're moving back in, life sucks out there don't it"
>"Hey you gotta pay $1600/mo rent"
>"So glad we paid off the house!"
@pyrate @monsterislandcolonizer @Tactical @WashedOutGundamPilot There's a circle of Hell reserved for parents who have the capacity to give a child a leg up in starting out and refuse.
@RupertvonRipp @pyrate @monsterislandcolonizer @Tactical @WashedOutGundamPilot Agree absolutely.

As a parent, I can't wrap my head around that kind of attitude, unless your "child" is in their twenties/ thirties, chronically unemployed, etc.

It's part of the process of leaving home and building a life of your own, child and parents.
@DavidMartinArt @pyrate @monsterislandcolonizer @Tactical @WashedOutGundamPilot Yeah unless your kid's a junky or a coal burner or a sodomy aficionado or something it's your duty to nepotize as hard as you can.

@RupertvonRipp @pyrate @DavidMartinArt @monsterislandcolonizer @Tactical @WashedOutGundamPilot There is a balance that should be considered. Saying "you're on your own" without providing any sort of help is just heartless, but you certainly don't want to give them too much "help" to the point where they have no sense of work ethic or understanding of money.

There is a reason many rich people create trust funds for their children. It's because they failed to instill work ethic and real skills.

@houseoftolstoy @pyrate @DavidMartinArt @monsterislandcolonizer @Tactical @WashedOutGundamPilot Even if you instill work ethic if you're the sort of rich that gives your descendants trust funds you were going to do that anyway, even if they end up men of gold who grow the family fisc.
