@WashedOutGundamPilot Who are the 20% of 'conservative' women who are on board with male affairs and why is it nearly 30% when it's a woman instead?

I expect shitlibbery from shitlibs but... sad!

@RupertvonRipp Probably part of the princess effect, they’re so used to getting their way in life they see everything through a lens of “well she was probably MADE to do it! What was her man doing to her to force her hand like that!?!”

@WashedOutGundamPilot @RupertvonRipp >trying to understand why she felt she had to go to other men

I can give the answer real quick: she is a slut. Nothing more to it than that. And no man should be fighting to keep any relationship with a cheating whore.

@houseoftolstoy @RupertvonRipp Not to them, women are taught from their earliest years by pop culture, media, social fakery that anything they want to do, no matter how terrible, is a non-issue as long as they can just rationalize is and verbalize some wallpaper explanation that forces everyone to play along.

The therapy industry kicked it into overdrive, too, they’ll pick up on the verbiage required to imitate accountability without actually feeling repentance or owning their actions. it’s insidious.

@monsterislandcolonizer @houseoftolstoy @RupertvonRipp Every time I hear that I have to choke down the reflex to say “holy fuck I hate ayn rand”

@CEO_of_Monoeye_Dating @monsterislandcolonizer @houseoftolstoy @RupertvonRipp First time it came to my attention was as a rand quote, I always figured she was the one to first say it before it made its way through those circles

@WashedOutGundamPilot @monsterislandcolonizer @houseoftolstoy @RupertvonRipp They were contemporaries, so it's not obvious. I think Rand had written lots before Monroe got big, so if Rand did say it then Monroe would've probably copied it from her.

Strangely, it doesn't sound like something Rand would say! Rand is someone who seems like they would *always* demand someone at their best.

@CEO_of_Monoeye_Dating @monsterislandcolonizer @houseoftolstoy @RupertvonRipp Rand was actually a lot like most in the ‘thinker’ class. She was smart enough to know what she SHOULD do, but lacked the discipline to do so. She was a lifelong adulteress, and a selfish asshole to the end. You can invent high minded heroes, but living like them is an entirely different work.

@WashedOutGundamPilot @monsterislandcolonizer @houseoftolstoy @RupertvonRipp I think this is where we disagree. Rand would've taken "selfish asshole" as a huge compliment!

Also, where do you get off calling Howard Roark a high-minded hero? He's a rapist - there's like a solid 2-3 pages of him raping the main heroine in The Fountainhead.

@CEO_of_Monoeye_Dating @monsterislandcolonizer @houseoftolstoy @RupertvonRipp NO one really brings up that one, and it’s so forgettable I couldn’t even tell you single plot point for it.

She could make her own moral code and pretend its’ the utter inverse of everything around her, but I’d bet you in quiet moments of sobriety - rare as they are - she’d stare at the wall and feel a crushing weight before pouring another drink and thinking on happier things.

I don’t buy that “nah, according to MY moral code everything I do is great and lovely“, that’s the pilpul you spit out to make everyone play pretend and clap for your antics, but you’re still human, and you still have an internal compass that will inevitably act up the more you neglect it. These people aren’t in short supply, she just couched it in loftier language than the average hedonist.

@WashedOutGundamPilot @monsterislandcolonizer @houseoftolstoy @RupertvonRipp Roark raping Dominique is kind of a huge plot point though! IIRC, the romantic plot between them is that Dominique breaks shit in her house and asks Roark to fix it as an excuse to see Roark, and Roark just fucking rapes her because of it. This is the start of their romance. (It's dumb).

It's important also to note that Rand was a Jew, and has Jewish character despite her professed Atheism.

@CEO_of_Monoeye_Dating @monsterislandcolonizer @houseoftolstoy @RupertvonRipp Having heard “rape is my love language“ from two different exes in my lifetime I think she may have had a finger on the female pulse for at least SOME subset of them for that romance plotline

@CEO_of_Monoeye_Dating @monsterislandcolonizer @houseoftolstoy @RupertvonRipp I mean, yeah, that’s what they want. Really cracks that image you have of them, but whatever, that’s what makes her feel wanted and desired. guys always do this baffled, “uh, yeah right…that’s crazy!” only to be met with the “YES” meme

@WashedOutGundamPilot @CEO_of_Monoeye_Dating @houseoftolstoy @RupertvonRipp Actually her adulterating was a deliberate manifestation of her beliefs.
Her beliefs dictated doing what she perceived to be in her rational self-interest. I don't remember the title but I think there was a biography of her that made this very clear.
@houseoftolstoy @monsterislandcolonizer @WashedOutGundamPilot @CEO_of_Monoeye_Dating @houseoftolstoy @RupertvonRipp

> Her adultery was a deliberate manifestation of her beliefs
Yeah Ayn Rand's beliefs were that it's good to be a selfish asshole so that's what she did.
@monsterislandcolonizer @WashedOutGundamPilot @houseoftolstoy @RupertvonRipp I think John Galt was supposed to be.

Each character is supposed to represent an ideal, but perhaps with a few flaws. We'll go with Atlas Shrugged as an example. The below are spoilers, but I don't care because nobody should read this gay ass shit. The upshot of the story is that the gay Earth is commies and the only solution is to join the "giving up on this gay Earth" crew while they watch the world collapse.

-John Galt is the primary hero, and he's the ideal. He has given up on this gay fucking Earth.
-Danneskjold is a secondary hero. He's a pirate, and is considered pretty cool but not ideal. He works to collapse the gay Earth.
-Dagny Taggart is the female hero, and her flaw is that she hasn't given up on this gay Earth yet.
-Eddie Willers is a male hero. His big flaw is that he's not actually that smart. He gets stuck slaving away on this gay Earth, because I guess Rand just hated him. Galt doesn't even invite him to be like a farmer on the "giving up on this gay Earth" crew, he just gets fucked.
-Hank Rearden is a male hero. His flaw is that he cares about his family, who fucking hates him. He eventually divorces his bitch wife and joins Galt in giving up on this gay Earth.

I think also Dagny Taggart sexes most of the male heroes except Willers. It's been a while, so I forget.

@CEO_of_Monoeye_Dating @monsterislandcolonizer @houseoftolstoy @RupertvonRipp I don’t really care so much what she thought, so much as how her characters are upheld today. Most IRL people reading it sure seem to see them as heroes, even when it means acting in ruthless self interest is a heroic act.

Very weird for simple, fun revenge tale like that to slowly morph into a book of scripture for retards

@WashedOutGundamPilot @monsterislandcolonizer @houseoftolstoy @RupertvonRipp >even when it means acting in ruthless self interest is a heroic act

That's actually the point. The point is that acting in ruthless self interest is heroic to Rand. The smart and courageous heroes - courageous in that they act in their own self interest - act in their own self interest and this is how they collapse the gay Earth and be heroes.
