This is basically a progressive that seems to be telling himself ( and others) that everyone believes what he believes and they are so close. The only question is why.

@sickburnbro You can only concoct these sorts of stories and think they are convincing when you don't understand how right wingers think and don't understand how confession works.
If you want to give up your gun collection, no priest is going to say that you have to keep it (nor bad to have it). It is not a sin that you need to confess. You would only think this would be a topic of discussion if your premise on confession is that confession is just like a therapy session.
