I don't know why we ever moved away from teaching phonics. It just makes sense to teach reading that way.

Anyone who argues otherwise is either too stupid to be taken seriously or is malicious with their intentions. I think we had a case of both of those when it came to moving away from phonics and teaching "whole word" reading.
