@sickburnbro I regularly eat food that has been prepared up to 7 days ago. So far I have not had ill effects from doing this still in 2026. Maybe my body is somehow specially immune to food poisoning, but I doubt it.

@Furgar I still hear the effeminate whining when doing recon on NPR about "muh climate change." But perhaps they are just doing the holding pattern of the lip service until they get updated marching orders.

I think it was around 15 years ago but definitely after the 2008 financial crisis that boomers just did a 180 and started telling White kids that college was stupid and they should learn a trade instead.

This is after spending the last 30 years preaching college as the only way you can get anywhere in life.

You're literally going to be working at Mcdonalds for the rest of your life if you don't go to college. Thats what they told us.

With Thomas Massie losing his primary, it reminds me of how the Republican party has been failing in so many regards to enact any actual conservative policies. Every "victory" they achieve always seems to either benefit Israel directly or indirectly.

"Trump expanded the military, that's a conservative victory!" But to what end does that help in accomplishing something tangental to right wing advancement here at home? The answer is it doesn't, because it just benefits Israel once more.

@sickburnbro It does not help that food is more expensive in general (not just eating out). But the food getting more expensive makes time and money saving efforts even more important. You as an individual are not to blame for the current status of food prices getting more expensive. You can be mad at the people responsible. But being mad will not solve the problem of how you will be able to afford to eat.

@sickburnbro Cooking is not that hard. If you are short on time, crockpots are a great way to make a meal with little effort. Cooking a large amount of food at once and eating it as leftovers days after also saves a lot of time.

Boo hoo if you complain that "I don't like eating the same thing every day. I NEED VARIETY!" No you don't.

I think to a degree our society has also failed a lot of people. When both parents are working, they don't have the energy to come home and then teach their kids to cook, even if they themselves are doing it.

@sickburnbro there are way too many women in their 30s who go into full on panic mode about looking for a man to have children with for it to be a universal truth that women do not want children and families. Yes, the propaganda is leading many women astray, as they should be prioritizing marriage and children in their early 20s. But as a society too many women are being told to put that off, when that causes so many of the problems with relationships and birth rates.

we would function better as a society if we made people understand the costs of running a business, or if they are unable to understand that, that they understand they are too stupid to have an opinion.

@Humpleupagus @rubberducky @silas I have heard that people in California can just not pay their fare and they will suffer no consequences for it. Is this true?

Based on what I heard someone who moved from California say "Why are people worried about paying? They are not allowed to stop you from getting on even if you do not have a ticket."

it's worse that this too, because a lot of "green" kind of agriculture are stupidly water intensive, like growing nuts in the desert.

@Zeb I also do not have a problem with her breaking off the relationship. 6 years is a long time to be in a relationship without marriage if marriage is the goal. But a princess she is not.

Ton of student loans and a nurse? Red flags to me. And those loan numbers tell me she paid way too much for school and/or was misusing her student loans. 160K off the bat to be a nurse? Something is wrong there.

There will be times I will defend Dave Ramsey in spite of the backlash. This is not one of those times. The "you are a princess" is not only cringe inducing, but there is no way he could qualify this statement from simply talking to a woman over the phone.

@sickburnbro It is not so much "who is telling them this," but rather that the phrase "responsibility without authority" is just putting the experienced reality of many men into succinct words. The phrase could be something else to the same sentiment, it would still exist in some form or another.

Killing the phrase itself would not kill the idea. It would simply re-emerge with a different label.

@sickburnbro "Now that it is probably too late to roll back such a policy, I will now voice opposition to it."

I never trust anyone who only voices an opinion when it has no realistic chance of making a difference. Often the same people doing this will always push for the worst ideas when it is critical (Chief Justice John Roberts is a great example of this type of person with his rulings).
