A lot of people just want some Superior Force to torture all the people who piss them off and they dress it up as a religion or political ideology, etc.
It'd be cool to be able to test individuals by giving them absolute power over their home country in some hyper realistic induced dream state for what will seem like a year to them and see how their faculties adapt to it. Then you wake them up and have a talk.

There is a video series about this by the famous DarkMatter2525 who is famous for Atheist Animation called Power Corrupts in which people in the future are put in a god simulator but made to forget they are in a simulator to judge their character as a leader
I am not sayimg I agreevwith DarkMatter2525 on relogious matters but I will say it is entertaining and gives you another perspective to think about
