This reminds me of a biography on Milton Erickson I read where he offered a medical or psychological or psychiatric professional a warning if they wanted one

( maybe he wrote a letter and said you can open it if you want a warning about this patient at any time )

The person chose not to read the warning and wasted years working on the patient with no progress

Then they finally chose to read or listen to the warning & it said you will make no progress working with this patient
