Not only he lost his sense of danger, he fully believes the government has full control of an avalanche.
And in the end he abandons his son...poor kid.

@Zeb He, along with his wife seem to come from sheltered upbringing. They are obviously upper middle class income and can afford to take their children to fun ski resorts!
His naivete and soft upbringing has not exposed him to his mortality.
And yet he has a wife and a family... Things we admire and strive for.
Marriage and "serious" dating is a rich man's sport. Making babies, to support the system, is a poor man's sport.
Since we rest in the median, we should avoid all of the above.
