Originally Stephen Hawking could walk but was paralyzed due to being forced to take medicine
He was then put in a wheelchair where people could force the world's smartest scientist to say whatever they want with a robotic voice that was not his real voice
Later he died and was replaced with actors
They show pictures of Stephen Hawkings throughout the years to show it is a different person than the original
