Cable TV made money via ads and carriage fees.

Consumers are proving unwilling to accept ads on streaming so this is a major crisis for the entertainment business.

Cable TV biz crumbles

Paramount Global on Thursday took a $6 billion write-down on its cable TV business, the day after Warner Bros. Discovery did the same for $9 billion.

Why it matters: Both companies are struggling to convince Wall Street that their streaming bets will make up for those losses.

Paramount Global's stock tanked 12% in after-hours trading Thursday, despite posting a streaming profit for the first time.
Warner Bros. Discovery's fell 9% to an all-time low after its earnings release.
Paramount's cable networks include MTV, VH1 and Comedy Central. WBD's include HGTV, Food Network, and CNN.

LOL their big business plan was to make people pay for the streaming service AND show them ads. 😂

Sorry bitches but that wouldn't have worked with cable if torrents existed back then

My biggest problem with ads is that they're so forceful and intrusive. I have zero problem with Gamer's Nexus or Salty Cracker doing ad reads, especially when it's germane to the content. I have a big problem with random fucking tampon commercials that just start yelling at me at 2x normal volume and talking speed, doing 10 jump cuts in 15 seconds, full of outlandish actors and complete bullshit. It impinges on my state of mind and is completely intolerable.

Advertisers brought the hate upon themselves by being assholes. Fuck 'em all.

So there was this great platform called playdosgames online that was 100% free then they expanded to classic reload and included Sega Genesis and other video game platform games

Then they needed ads to pay for there expansion

I did not mind viewing the ads but the thing is the ads would cause the games to fail to work correctly anymore

They would fail to work after loading or the keyboard would stop functioning in the virtual environment when a ad popped up

Whatever happened to normal, static images and normal static text ads? If your ads need to use psychological torture techniques to trick people into buying your garbage, your company deserves to go bankrupt.
