Also I believe that Ed Wood wore women's clothing but never tried to convince people that he was a biological woman and he even basically referred to transgenderism as a mental illness due to childhood trauma in Glen or Glenda even though he supported allowing men to wear women's clothing as a way to deal with their mental illness if I understood him correctly
That is his story as I recall as well.
