The couple said their white neighbor taught the parrot the slur after they refused to let her prune the top of their tree to improve her view.

Police said the bird is owned by Sue Kaufman, who could not be reached for comment.

Tymony said Kaufman has ignored her complaints and lets the bird out into the backyard four or five times a week. She said it repeats the slur about six times a minute for up to one-half hour.
