@shortstories @marlathetourist By "closed kayak" you just mean the one where there's a small seat hole and you stick your legs inside?
I remember being taught how to slide out of those in the event of a capsize at sea scouts, before even being allowed to get in one.

I tried learning them and then made a firm commitment not to use them after learning how easy it is to drown by trying to practice getting out of one

I just stick to other safer types of boats like canoes

Did you ever intentionally fill a canoe with water and then place it upside down on top of another empty canoe perpendicular to it while in the water to practice what to do if there are two canoes and one gets full of water

@Zergling_man @marlathetourist

I am thinking it only works if the water is shallow enough because I would imagine the other cartoon would sink to the bottom and or would be too heavy to get and lift on top the other canoe while swimming without your feet touching the ground

Or maybe it only works if there is a lot of water in it but not enough to sink it

@shortstories @Zergling_man @marlathetourist Yes. Learning how to empty capsized canoes was part of the Canoeing merit badge in the boy scouts long ago.
