@Deplorable_Degenerate @CozyLife @Dudebro @chud @grizzlywhisker @alessmussolini88 One time, in about the year 2000, I believe it was shortly before 9/11, I was surfing for something that made sense, though I don't exactly remember the terms. Either way I stumbled upon a really neat and tidy webpage that was one of the top hits on either Alta Vista or Lycos (pretty sure this was before I was using Google regularly), and there was a string of quotes, one after the other. I don't honestly recall what they were; I just remember thinking to myself "oh hey, I get that ... okay that makes sense ... yes ... yes," etc, pretty much not finding anything particularly alarming or difficult to grasp; very relatable. But then I saw one of these quotes was attributed to Adolf Hitler, which surprised me. And then I noticed they were all from Adolf Hitler. Keep in mind, this was all in the span of a few seconds. I dragged the scroll bar up to the top to see what the heck I'd been reading:
aryanism dot net
With a tidy little hakenkreuz wreathed in wheat. This was entirely unexpected, and I could taste adrenaline. I shit you not, I hit the power button and left the room, and stayed away from the computer for the rest of the day 🤣
@Deplorable_Degenerate @CozyLife @Dudebro @chud @grizzlywhisker @alessmussolini88 Exactly - plus a whole complicated mix of fear and loathing vis-a-vis conditioned response since childhood. Inwardly I was kicking myself for failing to immediately recognize the "inherent obvious evil", and having been so favorably disposed towards it. But at the same time, another part of my psyche was working to justify it, and excuse myself from liability. And so I wanted to go read more, to "pick it apart", and find out what was "wrong" about it, exactly; though I didn't because I didn't want that on my internet history. At the end of the day I just chose to put it behind me, and resolved to be more vigilant about links that I click.
