When confronted with even a mere *mention* of settler-colonialism, a lot of white folks instinctively, instantly go for deflection: "I wasn't there for that," "that's in the past," "there's nothing I can do to change it."

Here's my proposal for uncomfortable white people: fucking stop. Don't deflect. For a moment stop thinking about yourself & how you fit into this story & just be open to the truth.

It really, truly is not about you. Don't fucking do that.
